Cultural Ambassadors Programme

The Cultural Ambassadors Programme, also known as the North American Language and Culture Assistants Programme, is an initiative by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport. It places 2500 North Americans as assistant language teachers in elementary and secondary schools throughout Spain. This program is highly sought after by Americans and Canadians, as securing work visas in Europe can be challenging. Consequently, it is a competitive teaching program, and acceptance is not guaranteed.

 

Program Details & Requirements

The Cultural Ambassadors Programme is open to American and Canadian citizens between the ages of 21 and 60, with an upper age limit of 35 for the Madrid region.

Contracts run from the beginning of October until May 31st.

English teachers will work a designated number of hours per week and receive a stipend of 700 EUR. Health insurance and a long-stay visa are included, but airfare and accommodation are not provided.

 

Acceptance Criteria 

 

  • Demonstration of practical Spanish language skills.
  • Submission of a medical form.
  • Academic requirement of a BA or BS degree.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Experience living abroad.
  • Possession of a TEFL TESOL qualification is beneficial.
